Cooking Salmon Grouper

A catch of Rockfish aboard The Gentleman
My culinary skills are legendary; legendarily nil.  But experimentation and a little book-learning paid off in the kitchen.  Also published @ FishExplorer

Don Welch Wins California BASS Nation at Pyramid Lake

1st Place Don Welch joins his twin
brother Ron on the 2014 State Team
Like the rest of the California BASS Nation events this year, frontal conditions created issues with catching numbers of fish, but despite the lack of cooperation from lethargic bass success could be found, including a behemoth smallmouth!

Ron Welch Wins CA BASS Nation event at Clear Lake

With a game plan in mind and a must win determination, Ron Welch finessed his way to the top of the field at Clear Lake to make the California B.A.S.S. Nation State Team, qualifying to attend the BASS Nation 2014 Western Division Tournament to be held at Noxon Reservoir, Trout Creek, ID.

A Day Aboard the Gentleman

What are the Basics of Saltwater Fishing?

A Penn 500 Jigmaster,
Blue Water Carnage rod

Having very little experience fishing in saltwater adds both a sense of adventure and a sense of being lost when it comes to planning the trip.  So I was wondering: What would be the best advice for a newbie on a saltwater charter boat?

2013 Rocky Mountain Team Series Midnight Open
7.20-21.13, Pueblo Reservoir, CO
The second Open event of the season for the Rocky Mountain Team Series saw half of the field bringing in limits over the required 15 inches, almost everyone catching at least a few keepers, and a back-to-back win for Jeff Solverson, who recently won the RMTS tournament at Wilson Lake, KS presented by Marine Specialty.

Catch-of-the-Week

Not your normal Big Fish story, the Catch-of-the-Week I’m looking for is the strangest, most unexpected and surprising catch.  Jig fishing for bass but instead hook a flathead?  Fly casting for rainbows and land a Paiute Cutthroat? Trolling for tuna and land a giant mako?  What’s your most unexpected catch and how did you catch it?   From FishExplorer.com

Cali Bass Clubs are Different!

I have been a bass club member since the early 1990s and have seen several styles of operation, but none so far have been like the CA bass clubs near me.
